The award winning Colina Club retirement village is situated on the south side of the hills behind Calpe, Alicante province on an exclusive and private residential urbanisation, which enjoys magnificent views of the cool blue Mediterranean Sea, while overlooking the tranquil countryside and farming communities below.

It is just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Calpe, who’s closest cities are Alicante and Valencia on Spain’s Costa Blanca.

The Colina Club was opened in 1991, by Dr Graham Young, who had previously owned retirement homes in England.

In the late 1980’s, he had a vision to imitate what was happening in North America with regard to the more northern population looking for a warmer climate in which to retire and Florida became their paradise. With this experience in mind, he put together a group of multinational investors to build what became the Colina Club, with the express intent of serving the Northern European ex-pat community and thereby providing a comfortable, secure, peaceful and healthy retirement in a superb location.

Regular flights arrive at both Alicante and Valencia airports from a wide selection of mainly European destinations. There are regular bus, train and taxi services from Alicante and Valencia to Calpe town.

The village comprises 48 apartments to let, from short to longer term stays and a fully functioning Nursing Home with large superior bedrooms.

The bedrooms in both the Residencia (Nursing Home) and the apartments are doubles and one of their main special features is that they have superb views of both the Mediterranean Sea and of the historically famous Peñon de Ifach Rock.

The World Health Organization has declared that the area has one of the best climates in the world with an average temperature of 20ºCentigrade (67ºF) and over 300 days of sunshine per year. Temperatures rarely drop into single figures. Spain is the seventh best country in the world to live in, according to the latest W.H.O. statistics on life expectancy.The elevated location of the resort ensures it enjoys a delightful micro climate with low humidity and a cooling breeze in summer, which is especially beneficial to people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism and chest problems.

The Colina Club includes a fully EU and Spanish registered, modern, heated and air conditioned nursing home, with English speaking nurses on duty 24 hours a day. Beds in the Nursing Home are available for both short term illness as well as longer stays.
There is also an English speaking Doctor who holds a weekly surgery and is on 24 hour call.

The one or two bedroom apartments are available to let and are built on one level. They have been designed to reduce the necessity of climbing steps and to make life generally easier. They come complete with an alarm system, under-floor central heating, 5 English speaking satellite television channels and midlevel two pin electrical points. The fully tiled bathrooms are equipped with assistance rails. All apartments feature an open plan kitchen, dining and living room area which lead either on to sun patios or small terraces, all of which enjoy the Club’s exclusive and private views of the Mediterranean.
